I can’t seem to pick a winner recently and last week was not an exception. It all started well with Arsenal dominating the first half and taking the lead against Crystal Palace. A few missed chances and a Petr Cech mistake later it was 1:1 with 10 minutes to. Let’s hope for better luck this week.
This Week’s Pick: Manchester City – Stoke City
Manchester City were terrible for quite some time, but it seems they have turned it around. The return of Kevin de Bruyne, Aguero finding his best and the confidence gained by reaching the UCL semis are doing wonders for the team. One really has to wonder how they are so far behind the leaders in the English Premier League.
The Blues are scoring for fun recently and the only exception was the last game against Newcastle. However, to has to be noted that the Magpies are looking much better under Benitez and are fighting for survival.
I don’t really expect the same level from Stoke City. It seems like the Potters are just waiting for the season to finish as their performances recently have been nothing short of shameful. They’ve conceded at least 2 goals in their last 5 games and a total of 8 in their last 2. It’s obvious that their defence is terrible and it’s little consolation that they usually manage to score as well.
I expect a battering in the early game on Saturday. Considering the form of both teams, it is no surprise to see that the odds for Manchester City are around the 1.2-1.3 mark. This is way too low for my taste as this is the EPL after all, but the price for over 2.5 goals seems pretty decent. I believe Aguero alone could cover this line if he has a good day. That’s where my money will go this week.
Market: Over 2.5 goals
Odds: About 1.70 on Betfair
