Last week was good as the losing streak was broken. Man City did batter Stoke and easily covered the over 2.5 line. A comfortable winner at the end of the day and let’s hope there are more of those in the near future. It’s time for this week’s EPL prediction.
This Week’s Pick: Newcastle – Crystal Palace
Newcastle are showing signs of improvement under Rafa Benitez and haven’t lost three games in a row. It’s an impressive streak considering the last two opponents were Liverpool and Manchester City. The big question is if it’s not too late to save the season and survive in the English Premier League. I am not sure about that, but there’s certainly a chance and the atmosphere at the club is now changed.
This weekend Newcastle will be hosting Crystal Palace who are enjoying a pretty decent season. Their performance in the league has been inconsistent, to say the least, but they reached the FA Cup final and will face Manchester United at Wembley. The big question is if that will inspire them for an improvement in the league or will they continue with their poor performances.
It has to be mentioned that Newcastle still have issues with injuries. The first two goalkeepers are out as are some key defenders which makes the game really tricky. They somehow coped in the past few games, but you never know when this could bite them.
In terms of form and motivation, Newcastle have a much better chance to win, in my opinion. The odds are good, but the injury list and the possible impact of the Palace cup success mean I wouldn’t go big here.
Additional tip: follow closely what happens in the Leicester game against Man Utd. If the Foxes don’t lose, I believe Chelsea will be the favourite against a disappointed Tottenham side on Monday night and odds of 2.50 would be worth a shot.
